Mark I’Anson

Mark was born in Glasgow in 1968 and studied art at Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen from 1988 to 1992. He has since worked as a full time painter.

Mark’s source materials include photographs and postcards as well as life. The foundation for his work is drawing and his work mixes pencil work with translucent glazes of paint to create provocative and compelling images that engage their viewers.

In recent years Mark has contributed to a number of shows in Scotland and beyond as well as solo exhibitions. His solo touring exhibitions have included “The Dream Team” with the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in 2003/4, “Drifter” with the Highland Council and the Scottish Fisheries Museum (2006) and “Links” at the Falkirk Wheel (2006).
