Paul Kennedy
Paul Kennedy is a Glasgow based artist who graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2004 with a degree in Drawing and Painting. During his lifetime Glasgow his hometown has undergone rapid development. For every building that is knocked down a million memories are torn down with it. As the banks of the River Clyde turn from heavy industry to tourisim, how many lives have been changed? Kennedy’s paintings reflect the thoughts and feelings on a lost history of place and time. ‘I create paintings that depict the interaction people have with their surroundings. My studio based on the East end of Glasgow gives me the perfect environment to reflect this concept of memory and place, helping me to capture a distinct energy’. With a career including many solo exhibitions Kennedy has also won awards, including the RGI David Cargill Award, the RGI Kelly Gallery Award and was a 2010 finalist in the Aspect Prize.
